The Tragedy Of Divorce Blog 12

 The Tragedy of Divorce.

During a recent Lecture last week, Brother Williams explained an amazing and surprising statistic to us about the amount of regret separated spouses have after 2 years. After 2 years 70% of couples regretted getting divorce and not taking the time to work out the problems they faced. This is very tragic, because regret is sometimes one of the worst things to have in life. It's a constant ringing in one's ears and can lead to some pretty depressing moments in our lives. This is what i want to focus my final blog on, the importance of avoiding the tragedy of divorce with three simple steps that i've learned in my family relations class.

  1. Communication. In marriage and family life, communication is essential to the growth and strength of a marriage. In the Webster dictionary the definition of communication is "a process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior" Communication is not always verbal, it can be through touch, signs or symbols in one's behavior. It's important that spouses, parents and even children use positive and honest communication in the home. Couples who apply daily and honest communication with their spouses will help strengthen their families and avoid unnecessary resentment in the home between couples.

Number 2. Being Worthy a Spouse in your marriage.

In Gordon B Hinckley's speech "Life's obligations", He stated "Be worthy of the mate you choose. Respect him or her. Give encouragement to him or her. Love your companion with all your heart. This will be the most important decision of your life, the individual whom you marry." Being a Worthy disciple of Jesus Christ and keeping your covenants with god will be a huge factor on the success of your marriage. For instance worthiness and keeping covenants with God will enable us to have the power of god in our marriages. God wishes for our happiness and joy. By keeping his commandments and following his will, we can ensure that we can have successful marriages in our lives. In the Pearl of great price, God states that his work and glory is to bring to pass the mortality and enteral life of man. He wants us to be happy, but we have to follow him and be worthy of his blessings.

Number 3. Humility or a willingness to submit to god's will.

And Finally Humility or the willingness to accept god's will. Accepting god's will as a couple and a family will bring tremendous blessings to your marriage. Far more than you can count. Questions will be answered, lives will be strengthened and a desire to follow the savior will grow.

Love Triangle | MARRIAGE IS BEAUTIFUL

In this chart representing the husband, wife and God. As spouses come together to find and trust in the will of God. They are able to come closer to god and each other. I would like to share a personal experience of how the Lord has blessed me, as I've accepted his will in my life. As I was starting to finish my mission, many thoughts came to my mind on which college to attend. The two colleges were Sacramento city college, or a community college around elk grove. When to started to pray and ponder, a conversation came to me on why I should start attending BYUI for school. Now it wasn't my first choice to do, and I really wanted to stay close to family. But as continued to pray and ponder on this important decision. I came to the conclusion that I needed to go to byui for school. It wasn't easy leaving my family and traveling to a new culture, but as I placed my trust in the lord. He blessed with so many things. I've met extraordinary people in Brigham Young Idaho. The Community which is built around marriage, family and the importance of the gospel of Jesus Christ in our homes has helped me to view the blessings of god in my life.

Though the Will of god is hard, as couples take the time to accept his will. They will experience tremendous blessings and see the face of god binding and strengthening their marriage.
